Performance 2023

By 2023, my performance style had begun to gain recognition at the Académie Art de la Parole in Auderghem. It inspired my classmates to explore Mouvement Panique with a more corporeal approach, letting the body dictate rhythm and intensity. Collaborating with the music department on guitar, I performed Fernando Arrabal’s Cuisine Cannibale. The piece was gripping, terrifying even, a radical departure from the more classical work of previous years. I moved almost possessed, letting the text’s horror and absurdity inhabit every gesture. The experience was exhausting yet exhilarating; I left the stage utterly satisfied.

That same year, I performed Anna de Noailles’s Prière. This was not confined to the classroom; the classe ouverte welcomed the public, and later the work was presented as part of the Acajou concert series in December 2023. Each reading balanced intensity with lyricism, translating the poetic nuance of French verse into lived, embodied performance.

Another highlight was the final exam performance, Tumulte, where I navigated multiple genres: classical in Molière’s Femme Savante, and contemporary in Lee Blessing’s Independence. Across these diverse works, the goal remained the same: to move the audience, to inhabit the text fully. The reception confirmed that the exploration of physicality, voice, and presence could transform even familiar texts into fresh, unforgettable experiences.
